12/472/5893 Saunders to Cooper Feb. 1, 1714

A memorial of Deeds of Lease and Release between Richard Saunders of Saunders Court in the county of Wexford, Esq. of one part and Edward Cooper of Newtown in the county of Catherlogh, Gent of the other part which said release the said Saunders in consideration of six hundred and forty pounds sterling ..sum mentioned to be paid to him by the said Edward Cooper and for this consideration do confirm etc. unto the said Edward Cooper all that and those towns and lands of Ballyckmoyler Shragh and Cudagh (Cudagh would be Cloydagh just southeast of Ballickmoyler)  containing by estimation six hundred acres or thereabouts profitable land plantation measure be the same more or less situated lying and being in the Barony of Sleivmargie in the Queens County in as full and ample manner as the said Edward Cooper and his … tenants and Richard Hovenden did then hold and enjoy the same Exception in the said Release is Excepted to have and to hold unto the said Edward Cooper and his heirs and assigns forever at the several rents following.  The yearly rent of eighty pounds sterling during the life of Richard Hovenden or until such time as the said Edward Cooper his heirs or assigns should be put into the quiet possession of four score acres part of the premises which were then in the said Richard Hovenden’s possession and for ever afterward the yearly rent of one hundred pounds payable half yearly above all taxes which said Deed and Release are witnessed by (witnesses names, attestations and signatures follow, Coopers signature and seal)

  

14/390/6433 Saunders to Singleton  Reg. June 16/17, 1715

 

Memorial of lease and release executed 16/17 06 1715 between Richard Saunders of Saunders Court County Wexford and Henry Singleton of the town of Drohega for 800 pounds town and lands of Ballickmoyler  Shragh and Cadagh containing 600 acres plantation measure, the town and lands of Tyarnane containing 155 acres  and town and lands of Gurteen containing 92 acres situated and lying in the Barony of Sleivmargie.  The release was subject to redemption and void upon repayment of the 800 pounds and interest at 6%

This was basically a mortgage on these lands which were put in Singleton’s name in exchange for 800 pounds paid to Saunders until he repaid that amount plus interest back to Singleton.

 

36/344/22788  Landring to Cooper et al  Mar. 1, 1722, reg. Mar. 5, 1722

Jeremiah Landring of Dublin, tallow chandler of the first part, Joseph Taylor of the said city, tallow chandler of the second part and Edward Cooper of Shragh in the Queen’s county, Farmer, James Forbes of the said city of Dublin, merchant of the third part; involves some property and houses in Dublin that Walter Harris Esq had leased to Joseph Taylor on June 13, 1718 and also a mortgage that Taylor had made to Landring which involved payments made to Landring and to Taylor by Edward Cooper and James Forbes.

Deed of Lease and release executed 21/22 07 1734 between Edward Cooper of Sragh QC gentlemen of the 1st part and William Cooper of the City of Dublin Esq. of the 2nd part Release being tripartite and made between EC of the 1stv part, Arthur Gore of Saunders Court C.Wexford Esq. and Jane Gore alias Saunders his wife of the 2nd part and William Gore of the 3rd part

RECITING that by deed of lease dated 31 01 and release 01 02 1714 made between Richard Saunders late of Saunders Court C. Wexford deceased of the 1st part EC of Newtown CC gent. of the 2nd part Saunders leased to Cooper lands of Ballymoyler, Sreagh and Cadagh containing 600a in the Barony of Sleivmargy and King’s County at £80 a year during the life of Richard Hovenden then tenant to part of the said land and under the yearly fee farm rent of £100 forever after the death of the said Richard Hovenden and RECITING  that the said Richard Saunders is since dead the aforesaid annual rent descends to said Jane as his only daughter and heir of Richard Saunders  and RECITING that the said EC had come to an agreement with the said Arthur Gore and Jane his wife that ye said EC should grant and release unto the said WC and his heirs to the use of the said WC and his heirs in trust for the said Arthur Gore his wife and heirs of the said Jane, all that part of the lands and premises aforesaid that part of the lands then and now in the possession of Richard Hovenden and his undertenants and containing by estimation 4 score acres also that part of the lands then and now in the possession of Patrick McDerby and his undertenants  containing 61a bounded on one side by the stone wall running from Curraghvoddah to the Little Brooke called Fishog and bounded on the other side by the Little Brooke running to the lands of Across and also all that part of said lands called Darby Lawlers holding containing 12a In consideration whereof the said EC should pay for the remainder of said lands forever only £43 per annum and no more than two parts in  three to be divided of the Quit rent and country charges payable out of Ballickmoyler by which said release whereof this is the memorial AND SAID EC DID GRANT AND RELEASE UNTO WC AND HIS HEIRS ALL THAT PART OF THE SAID LANDS AND PREMISES AND AGREED TO BE GRANTED AND RELEASED BY THE SAID etc AS AFORSAID TO HOLD TO THE SAID WC HIS HEIRS AND ASSIGNS in trust nevertheless for the said Arthur Gore and Jane his wife and the heirs of the said Jane forever subject to one full third part of the quit rent and County charges payable out of the whole lands of Ballickmoyler aforesaid and further by the said release whereof this is the memorial the said Arthur Gore for himself and for the said Jane his wife for the consideration therein mentioned did grant and agree to and with the said EC his heirs and assigns that the said Arthur Gore and his wife Jane should before the last day of next Michalas???? Vested of the  aforesaid annual rents of eighty pounds and 100 pounds unto the said WC which said fine was to be operate to the following  viz. to Ratify confirm and establish the said recited agreement between the said EC and the said Arthur Gore and Jane and as to £43 a year pt of the aforesaid annual rent to the use intent purpose that the said WC his heirs and assigns should stand seized thereof to the only use and behoof of the said Arthur Jane and their heirs and assigns of the said Jane forever payable at such days and feasts and subject to such distress and distresses as in and by the said deed of release bearing dates 01 02 1714 was mentioned  and expressed concerning ye said ? by reserved rents of £80 and £100 and which said deeds of lease and release whereof this is the memorial

 

99/106/68160  Cooper to Taylor

A memorial of a lease for lives renewable forever dated April 24, 1737 whereby Edward Cooper of Sraugh in the Queen’s county, Gent. did grant unto Adam Taylor of Ballickmoyler in said county, farmer, all that part of the town and lands of Ballickmoyler containing 60 acres (except as therein excepted) to hold by Adam Taylor his heirs etc. during the natural lives of Adam Taylor, his wife Susanna and his son John Taylor and in which deed is contained a covenant for renewing the same by Adam Taylor or his heirs etc. paying 15 pounds as a fine (fee) on each renewal together with the yearly rent of 30 pounds sterling above taxes; which said deed is witnessed by Charles Corfield of Sraugh, servant to Edward Cooper and Dennis Lalor of Graige, Queen’s county, schoolmaster, deceased, and this memorial is witnessed by Charles Corfield and William James, servant to Edward Cooper.

247/161/160961  John Taylor to Walsh

A memorial of an Indenture dated Mar. 29, 1766 between John Taylor of Ballickmoyler, Queen’s county, farmer, of one part and William Walsh of the same of the other part, purporting to be a deed of assignment for the consideration therein mentioned of John Taylor’s right title benefit of renewal property claim and Demand whatsoever either at Law or in Equity of in and to an Indenture of Lease dated May 24, 1737 made between Edward Cooper of Shraugh, Queen’s county, Gent. of the one part and Adam Taylor of Ballickmoyler, Queen’s county, farmer, of the other part whereby Edward Cooper demised to Adam Taylor all and singular that part of the Town and Lands of Ballickmoyler that Adam Taylor then held containing by estimation 60 acres in the Barony of Sleemargah and Queen’s county; the recited indenture of Lease and the premises thereby demised to hold unto Adam Taylor his heirs etc. for the natural lives of Adam Taylor, Susanne Taylor his wife and John Taylor his son at the yearly rent of 30 pounds above taxes in which Indenture of Lease there is a covenant for renewal forever on the payment of 15 pounds on the fall of each life; with the benefit of renewal John Taylor was legally entitled to at the time and John Taylor and Susanne Taylor two of the lives in the indenture now being dead a renewal of the lease has been granted by Edward Cooper, Esq. of Cooperhill, Queen’s county who is entitled to the fee and inheritance of the said premises for the life of Adam Taylor and Jane Taylor son and daughter to John Taylor in the place of Adam Taylor and Susanna Taylor; to hold all and singular the land herein before mentioned to William Walsh his heirs etc during the lives of John Taylor Adam Taylo and Jane Taylor and during such other lives as should be added by virtue of the said covenant subject to the rents fines for renewal and covenants in the Indenture of Lease made by Edward Cooper to Adam Taylor;

The deed of assignment is witnessed by Bartholomew Cliffe, Gent. one of the Attorneys of His Majestys Court of Exchequer in the Kingdom of Ireland and William Russell of Cappalugg, Queen’s county, farmer, and this memorial is witnessed by William Russell and John Murray of Ballickmoyler, blacksmith

A memorial of an indenture dated Mar. 29, 1766 made between William Walsh of Ballickmoyler, Queens county, farmer, of the one part and Edward Cooper of Cooperhill, Queens county of the other part being a declaration of Trust wherein William Walsh doth fully and absolutely declare that the name William Walsh was only made use of in trust for Edward Cooper in a certain deed of assignment made between John Taylor of Ballickmoyler, Queens county, farmer, of the one part and William Walsh of Ballickmoyler of the other part dated March 29, 1766 in which deed of assignment is recited amongst other things that John Taylor for the consideration therein mentioned did assign transfer and make over unto William Walsh his heirs etc. all his (JT’s) rights title interest benefit of renewal property claim and demand in the lands of Ballickmoyler with the deed of assignment mentioned together with the lease of the premises and that the lands were purchased for the sole use and benefit of Edward Cooper his heirs etc. which declaration of trust is witnessed by Bartholomew Cliffe, Gent. one of the attorneys of his Majestys Court of Exchequer in Ireland and William Russell of Cappalugg, Queens county, farmer, and this memorial is witnessed by William Russell and John Murray of Ballickmoyler, blacksmith

Lease dated Feb. 28, 1759 between William Cooper of Coopershill and William Walsh of Ballickmoyler, farmer, 60 acres of land in Ballickmoyler currently in the possession of William Walsh and his undertenants during the lives of William Walsh, his wife Mary Walsh alias Russell and Daniel Murray eldest son of John Murray of Ballickmoyler, blacksmith at the yearly rent of 42 pounds 19s and 6p; witnessed by John Bowles of Ballickmoyler, perukemaker, and William Russell of Cappalug, farmer; memorial witnessed by William Russell and John Murray of Ballickmoyler, blacksmith; reg. in Dublin by William Russell June 26, 1766

262/115/168056  Cooper to Bowles July 27, 1750 (registered Nov. 18, 1767)

“Memorial of Indenture dated Twenty Seventh July one thousand seven hundred and fifty whereby William Cooper of Shraugh, Queen’s county, Gent demised unto John Bowles of Ballickmoyler Perrukemaker all that part and parcel of the Town and Lands of Ballickmoyler aforesaid then in possession of said Bowles together with the Croft or garden adjoining thereto then late in possession of Mary Bowles mother of the said John Bowles containing by estimation in the whole 6 acres plantation measure more or less situated in the Queen’s county and barony of Slewmarragh bounded on the north east from the High Road by Adam Taylor’s Orchard and from thence on the north and northwest by said Taylor’s holding from thence on the west by the Miller’s holding to the said High Road and crossing the said High Road near the New Water Course lately made by the said William Cooper bounded by the brook commonly called the Millstream to the ditch that divides the piece of ground / part of the said Demised premises / formerly planted by said William Cooper with Hops from the field commonly called or known by the name of Acrasheroon and on the south east by the said ditch to the Croft or garden then in tenure to John Murray and by said Croft or garden to the High Road aforesaid and so by said High Road to Adam Taylor’s orchard as aforesaid, to Hold / Except as therein excepted / for the Lives of John Bowles the lessee, Anne Bowles his wife and Michael Bowles his Eldest son and the survivor and survivors of them at the yearly rental (during the life of Mary Bowles Mother of said John Bowles ) of five pounds sterling and after said Mary’s decease, the yearly rent of six pounds sterling during the term and residue of said demise, the said rents to be paid half yearly above taxes / Quit Rent, Crown Rent and Chief Rent only excepted / which indenture is witnessed by Jonathan Strettell formerly of the City of Dublin gent and Thomas Russell formerly of Cappalug in the Queen’s county farmer both deceased and this Memorial is witnessed by William Walsh of Ballickmoyler aforesaid farmer  and William Fitzgerald of the City of Dublin, Gent.

Lease dated Sept. 18, 1765 between John Taylor of Ballickmiller, Queens co., Gent. and Murtho Lawlor of the same, farmer, whereby John Taylor did sell unto Murtho Lawlor the Big (?) Orchard  of Ballymiller of 1 acre now in the possession of Murtho Lawlor from Mar. 25, 1765 for the term of 31 years under the yearly rental of 4 pounds 10s payable every Sept. 29 and Mar. 25 which deed Euseby Stratford of Dublin Gent and James Bowes, servant to Euseby Stratford and this memorial witnessed by Euseby Stratford and James Bowes

Lease dated Sept. 18, 1765 between John Taylor of Ballick Miller, Queens co., Gent. and Murtho Lawlor of the same, farmer, whereby John Taylor did sell to Murtho Lawlor the said Murtho Lawlor’s present dwelling house with the small orchard and plot of ground for a kitchen garden also the Haggard lying by the High Road and partly between John Taylor’s kitchen garden and Ballickmiller currently held by Murtho Lawlor from Nov. 1, 1765 for 31 years under the yearly rental of 10s payable every May 1 and Nov. 1 which deed is witnessed by Euseby Stratford and James Bowes (as in 173416)

Memorial of a Lease dated Dec. 20, 1769 between Edward Cooper of Cooper Hill, Queens co., Esq., and the Rev. Edward Whitty of Ballickmoiler, Clerk, by which Edward Cooper did let to Edward Whitty the part of the lands of Ballickmoiler containing 36 acres bounded on one said partly by the road leading from Ballickmoiler to Clonaghane partly by a small garden held by Joshua Haughton on another side by a road leading from Ballickmoiler to Castletown on a third side by the garden late Mathew Mourans and on the fourth side by the lands of Ratelig which land was formerly set by Edward Cooper to Oliver Brett late of Ballickmoiler for the term of 31 years of which 24 years remained unexpired on Mar. 25 next for Edward Whitty to hold from Mar. 25, 1794 (the day the lease to Oliver Brett should expire) during the life of Irwin Whitty son of Edward Whitty provided the lease should continue longer than said term of 24 years also during the life of one other person to be named by Edward Whitty before said term of 24 years and life of Edward Whitty shall both expire paying yearly from Mar. 25, 1794 unto Edward Cooper his heirs etc. 1 pound 10s by the acre; lease witnessed by John Bowles and William Bowles of Ballickmoiler, Queens co., farmers and this memorial witnessed by John Bowles and Edward Bond of Dublin, Gent.

Memorial of a lease dated Dec. 20, 1769 between Edward Cooper of Coopershill, Queens co., Esq. and the Rev. Edward Whitty of Ballickmoiler by which lease Edward Cooper did let to Edward Whitty that part of Ballickmoiler containing 18 acres on the west side of the road leading from Ballickmoiler to Castletown and bounded in part by said road on a second part by land held by John Murray and his undertenants on a third part by a road and little stream running near to the Mill and on a fourth part by lands of John Furney Joshua Haughton and undertenants to hold by Edward Whitty his heirs etc. from Mar. 25, next for 24 years and further during the life of Irwin Whitty eldest son of Edward Whitty provided said life shall continue longer than 24 years and during the life of one other to be named by Edward Whitty before the term should expire at the yearly rent of 1 pound 10s by the acre payable half yearly which said lease is witnessed by John Bowles and William Bowles of Ballickmoiler, farmers, and this memorial is witnessed by John Bowles and Edward Bond of Dublin, Gent.

274/391/179248  Cooper to Whitty 

A memorial of an instrument in writing dated Dec. 20, 1769 in which it is recited that Edward Cooper of Coopershill, Queens co., Esq. stood indebted to the Rev. Edward Whitty of Ballickmoiler, Clerk, in the sum of 358 pounds by bond with warrant dated Dec. 29, 1768 and in which it is recited that by two indentures of lease dated Dec. 20, 1769 made between Edward Cooper and Edward Whitty the said Edward Cooper did let that part of Ballickmoiler mentioned in said leases containing 54 acres for Edward Whitty his heirs etc. to hold during the lives and years therein also mentioned at the yearly rent of 1 pound 10s by the acre by which instrument in writing it was agreed between them and their heirs etc. that the said rent shall discharge the principle sum of 358 pounds and the interest thereof until the same shall be fully paid which said instrument is witnessed by John Bowles and William Bowles both of Ballickmoiler, farmers, and this memorial is witnessed by John Bowles and Edward Bond of Dublin, Gent.

298/288/197468 Edward Cooper to John Murray Sept. 14, 1773

Edward Cooper of Coopershill, Queen’s co party of the one part and John Murray of Ballickmoyler, Queen’s co, farmer; involves 339 acres in Aghnacross and Knockardagur, Queen’s co, bordered on one side by lands belonging to Edward Cooper and in the possession of Thomas Geale, on one other side by Samuel Watson’s land, on one other side by Barnard Anderson’s land and on the other side by the road leading to Ballynakill; which land lying in the Barony of Cuddagh, Queen’s co.; during lives of John Murray, his wife Mary and his son Daniel Murray; yearly rent of 1 pound 7 shillings per acre.

 

307/209/203711 Hovenden to Murray

A memorial of a lease dated Jan. 2, 1775 whereby Peircy Hovenden of Ballickmoyler, Queens co., Esq. demised unto Murtagh Murray of Aughederry, Queens co., farmer, all that part of Ballickmoyler then in Murtagh Murray’s possession containing 5 acres Irish plantation measure subject to a future survey bounded on the north by John Bambricks land on the south by the road leading through Ballickmoyler and on the east by Hovendon’s other lands to hold by Murtagh Murray his heirs etc. from Mar. 25 last for 31 years at the yearly rent of 17s per acre payable half yearly which lease is witnessed by John Hutchisen of Toulaghton and William Graham of the same farmers and this memorial is witnessed by William Graham and by Michael Macabe of Dublin, Gent.

321/577/217868 Cooper to Taylor

A memorial of a deed dated Mar. 29, 1766 between Edward Cooper of Cooperhill, Queens co., Esq. and John Taylor of Ballickmoyler, farmer, whereby Edward Cooper for the consideration therein mentioned did grant to John Taylor his heirs etc. one rent charge of 30 pounds yearly payable out of the (income from the) town and lands of Shraugh and Cudda together with reasonable and sufficient grazing and hay for three cows yearly or 6 pounds yearly as lieu thereof to hold to John Taylor his heirs etc. from May 1 next during the natural lives of John Taylor Hannah Taylor his wife Adam Taylor their son and Hannah Taylor and Jane Taylor their daughters and also for the natural life of Adam Taylor’s first son or daughter and in case of failure of such son or daughter then during the life of the first son or daughter of Jane Taylor’s, the said rent charge to be paid half yearly on every Nov. 1 and May 1, in which deed is contained a power to distrain in case of failure of payments of the rent charge and also the grazing and hay for three cows yearly or 6 pounds in lieu thereof, as also a covenant for further assurance, deed is witnessed by Bartholomew Clifte (or Cliffe) of Dublin, Gent. and by William Russell of Cappalug, Queen’s co., farmer and this memorial is witnessed by Bartholomew Cliffe (Clifte) and by Pat Flyn servant to John Cliffe of Dublin, clerk.

Memorial of an indenture of lease dated May 1, 1779 between Edward Cooper, Esq of Cooperhill and William Cooper of the same whereby Edward Cooper for the consideration therein mentioned did let to William Cooper all the lands of Cooperhill containing 162 acres plantation measure from May 1 for 3 years at the yearly rent of 2 pounds per acre; indenture witnessed by Henry Clibborn of Wheelam Grove, co. Kildare, Esq. and Patrick Hackett, servant to Edward Cooper and memorial witnessed by Patrick Hackett and James Symes, clerk to William Crowe of Dublin, Gent.

A memorial of a deed of rent charge dated Aug. 25, 1780 whereby Daniel Murray of Ballickmoyler, Queen’s co., blacksmith, did for the consideration therein mentioned did sell to Hannah Murray of Ballickmoyler an annuity or yearly rent charge of 5 pounds payable out of Daniel Murray’s land, dwelling house and concerns thereto belonging

for Hannah Murray to hold from Mar. 25, last for 10 years payable half yearly above taxes with liberty to distrain in case of non-payment, by an endorsement on the back of said deed Daniel Murray did invite Hannah Murray to live with him as long as she shall think proper in such manner as Hannah Murray did since the death of her father without any expense whatsoever and in consideration of that Hannah Murray does quit and claim to her father’s substance other than the annuity; deed and endorsement witnessed by Samuel Darcy of the town of Carlow, saddler, and by George Payne of Cooperhill, shoemaker.

A memorial of an indented deed …..executed 04 October 1790 between Edward Cooper of Coopershill in the Queen’s county of the one part and the Rev. Edward Whitty of Ballickmoyler within said County of the other part whereby the said Edward Cooper for the consideration therein mentioned did demise grant etc. unto the said Edward Whitty all that part of the lands of Ballickmoyler aforesaid containing by estimation 17 acres 28 perches situated lying being in the Barony of  Sleivmarayh  and Queen’s county aforesaid meaning and boundary as follows that is to say on the West side by the road leading from Ballickmoyler to Castletown and bounded in part by said road and second part by land held by John Murray and his undertenants on the third part by a road and little stream running near to the Mill and in the fourth part by the lands of John  Henry Joshua Haughton and undertenants, excepting all royalties to hold said demised premises unto the said Edward Whitty, his heirs etc from the 29th day of September  then last past for and during the lives of John Taylor of Ballickmoyler aforesaid gent. and Irwine Whitty and John Whitty sons of the said Edward Whitty and the survivor and survivors of them with renewals forever at a peppercorn as a fine for each renewal upon demand at the yearly rent of 19-15-03 Sterling payable half yearly on every 25th day of March and September with the usual covenants between landlord and tenant which said deed is duly recited by the parties thereto and in writing X Joshua Haughton of Ballickmoyler in the Queen’s county farmer and John Bowles of Ballickmoyler in the Queen’s county aforesaid farmer , and this memorial is also duly executed by the said Edward Whitty and is witnessed by the said John Bowles and John Coates of the City of Dublin Gent. Signed and sealed in presence of John Bowles John Coates.  The above mentioned John Bowles maketh oath that he is a subscribing witness to the deed whereof the above writing is a memorial and also to the above memorial and sayeth he saw said deed duly recited by the above parties thereto and also saw the above memorial duly recited by the above memorial duly recited by the above named Edward Whitty and sayeth that the name John Bowles also as a witness to indenture (?)  and memorial respectively is this ….. proper name and handwriting and that the said deed and memorial to John Moore (?) esquire is duly registered at the Registry Office Dublin on Tuesday the 12th day of July 1791 at or near the hour of day part twelve in the afternoon.  John Bowles signed before me this 12th day of July 1791 John Moore (?) Deputy Registrar to the Registrar appointed by …. for registering deeds wills conveyances.

A memorial of an indentured lease dated July 7, 1786 (the lease dated the day before) between Daniel Murray of Ballickmoyler, Queen’s co., farmer, and Daniel Heaton of the same, farmer, in which in consideration of 5s and by force of the statute for transferring uses into possession and to his heirs etc. Daniel Murray did demise unto Daniel Headon 17 acres 3 roods 30 perches of land in Ballickmoyler commonly called the Raheens  bounded on one side with John Bowles’ lane on the other side with Mr James Crisps land on the other side with Dan Deegan’s land and on the other side with the high road leading from Carlow to Maryborough as Daniel Headon then possessed during the term of 21 years provided the lives of Daniel Murray and Mary Murray his children and so long live Daniel Headon paying unto Daniel Murray the rent of 1 pound 10s 3p per acre payable on every Nov. 1 and May 1, before said deed was executed it was agreed that Daniel Headon should build a house to suit his convenience for which Daniel Murray was to allow the sum of 5 pounds 13s 9p, deed witnessed by George Payne and Francis Tomlinson of Ballycormick, Queen’s co., and the memorial witnessed by Francis Tomlinson and Robert Banks of the town of Carlow, teacher,

A memorial of an indenture dated Dec. 8, 1792 between John Furney of Ballickmiller, Queen’s co., miller, and John Moore of Dublin, Esq. in which John Furney in consideration of 50 pounds paid to him by John Moore sold to John Moore that part of the lands of Ballickmiller with the mill and mill pond with the mill race and mill bank then in the possession of John Furney containing 4 acres 3 roods bounding towards the north by John Taylor’s land on the south by the road leading to Doonan and William Walsh’s land on the east by Taylor’s land and John Bowles’ land and on the west by William Walsh’s land and to the road leading to old Leagh, the deed also contains usual covent of equity of redemption on payment of 50 pounds with lawful interest by Aug. 1 next, witnessed by Edward Walsh and Arthur Roberts.

Indenture of a lease bearing date the twenty ninth day of April 1793 whereby William Cooper of Coopers Hill in the Queen’s county, Esq. did demise and let unto William Bowles of Wingfield in the county of Wexford, gent all that part of the lands of Ballymoilder in the Queen’s county containing by survey six acres be the same more or less with two dwelling houses bounded on the North by Samuel Carroll’s holdings on the South with Edward Kinselagh’s holdings on the East by said Mr. Cooper’s land and on the West with the High Road leading from Ballymoilder aforesaid to the town of Carlow in as large and beneficial manner as said William Bowles now holds, same Royalties except to have and to hold said demised premises with the app’s from the twenty fifth day of March last for and during the natural lives of the said William Bowles, eldest son of said William Bowles party hereto and Daniel Murray third son to Daniel Murray of Ballymoilder also farmer and the survivor of them at the yearly rent of twenty four pounds four ….. and one penny half penny … payable half yearly as in said deedment over and above Taxes, Quit Rent and Crown Rent except which said lease contains the usual …. between Landlord and Tenant and is witnessed by the Rev’d. A Memorial of an Indented Deed of assignment bearing date the 16th day of February1813 made between William Bowles of Ballickmoiler in the Queen’s county farmer of the one part and John Graham & Lucy Graham his wife of Ballickmoiler aforesaid which said Lucy is the daughter of the said William of the other part whereby the said William Bowles for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he has for his said daughter and in order to make a provision in life for her and for and in consideration of the sum of ₤160 paid by the said John Graham to and for the use of the said Wm. Bowles the said Wm. Bowles did grant convey sell assign and make over to the said John and Lucy Graham all his the said William Bowles estate rights title and profit free of any Claim and Demand whatsoever which the said William Bowles now has or is entitled to in that part of the lands of Ballickmoiler held by the said Wm. Bowles containing 6 acres together with two dwelling houses bounded on the north by  James Carrolls lands and on the south by Edw. Kinshellas on the east by said Wm. Coopers and on the west by the High Road leading to Carlow all which said assigns premises and tenements are situated in the Barony of Slievmargart in Queen’s county and the said William Bowles by said deed also conveys and makes over to the said Jno and Lucy makes over all the stock household furniture and farming utensils and all other the property which was then seized of or entitled to only reserving the use of said stock and furniture during his life.  Said deed of assigns is witnessed by William Green and Geo. Cope of Carlow (apparently the witnesses) and this memorial is witnessed by the said William Green and George Cope. 

Signed and sealed in the presence of William Green and George Cope who go on to swear that they saw the parties sign the document etc. 

Sworn before me at Carlow in the county of Carlow this 21 May 1813 etc.

Murray of Moneen (note: also in Graigue) the 5th son of Daniel Murray whereby Daniel Murray in consideration of his natural love and affection for his son Hu Murray and other considerations and agreements therein mentioned did give to Hu Murray his heirs etc. his rights title and interest in that part of the lands of Ballickmoyler called the Raheens containing 20 acres with the dwghouse (dwelling house) thereon and the croft thereto belonging and also that part of the lands of Aughasharoom containing 16 acres 3 roods in Killabin parish, Queen’s co., which deed witnessed by James Moore (and) Henry Hovenden of the town of Carlow
