The William Bowles Family

Back to The Robert Bowles Family

William Bowles was the third child and second son of Robert Bowles and Elizabeth Ray of Quebec City who had settled their family in Fenelon township in the 1850's.  William and several other of his siblings would marry in Fenelon but then move on to Tiny township to settle.

The 1881 to 1911 Censuses show William and Sarah Bowles and sons Herbert and Oliver in Tiny township, their farm at Lot 18 Con 13 adjacent to William's sister Jennie and husband Hamilton Todd with whom Robert lived in 1891. Elizabeth passed away that year and Robert in 1894.

Sarah died in 1915 and William in 1916 and are buried in the Copeland Hill Cemetery in Tiny township.

Their Bowles line may have continued through both of their sons although we have not yet been able to trace Herbert.   Oliver had a distinguished career as a geologist and mining engineer for the U. S. Bureau of Mines and would raise his family in Washington D.C.
