The Henry Bowles of Limerick LineBack to The Bowles of Limerick
Henry Bowles, baker d. April 1784 (Dublin Hibernian Journal Monday, Apr. 26, 1784)
A General Directory of the Kingdom of Ireland in 1788 by Richard Lucas, includes the following under Limerick, County of Limerick:
About 10 years later there is an August 1797 christening record in St. John's parish, Limerick for an Alexander Bowles with parents Henry and Sarah Bowles. Henry was apparently a "dyer" as a 1791 agreement records that Henry Bowles, dyer, stood as a guarantor for a pawnbroker's loan to a Gentleman along with a Jeremiah Blood, cordwainer (a maker of higher quality shoes for the Gentry) and a Daniel Bourke, Gentleman. ref. In the parish of St. Mary's, Limerick there is a marriage record for a James Bowles to Mary Lynch on Dec. 26, 1785. Possibly James and Henry were Mrs. Bowles children but that's not certain yet. (this is still under construction, lots to come yet) |
